Our Mission

AAPVI is a support group for parents of children with visual impairments. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization. AAPVI is under the umbrella of the National Association for Parent of Visually Impaired Children (NAPVI). The Region 4 NAPVI representative lives in Birmingham and is an active member of our AAPVI group. The support group has members with children who range in age from under one year through senior in high school. Other professionals in the field of blindness and low vision have approached the AAPVI President about becoming members of the support group. Blind professionals working in their chosen fields have approached the AAPVI President about becoming a member. AAPVI turns no one away.

AAPVI Fishing Rodeo Saturday, May 19, 2018

Sunshine Farms in Sterrett, AL is hosting the 9th Annual AAPVI Fishing Rodeo on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM. The children will enjoy horseback rides in the round pen, fishing in a well-stocked lake and paddle boat rides. This event also includes a Pot Luck Dinner. AAPVI will provide hamburgers and hot dogs, buns, and paper products. Each family is requested to bring a side dish. Please RSVP by Wednesday, May 16, to Sherry Scelsi or by calling/texting 205-492-2059. Sherry will need to know the number of participants in your party and the side dish you are bringing. This event is weather dependent. If the event is canceled due to weather, Sherry will send an email the morning of the event letting everyone know.
